CGLA opened its doors in July of 2009 to a class of fifty 6th graders and twenty-five 9th graders. In partnership with HCDE, parents, and the community, the school’s founders expect CGLA to become a national model and another success story for Hamilton County.
VISION
All young women have equitable access to the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to succeed in college and to develop as leaders in their communities and the world.
The Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy is grounded in the belief that every student has the potential to be an academic achiever and a leader in her school, family, community, and future profession. As a single-gender school, CGLA will ensure that girls who are currently underachieving have equitable access to the academic and social supports to reach that potential.
MISSION

As a Tennessee public charter school, CGLA is committed to mobilizing the resources necessary to offer girls a rigorous academic experience that prepares them for college, grounds them in civic responsibility, and positions them for successful careers in a competitive knowledge-based global economy.
